Google, rumored to have designed the Nexus 7 tablet specifically to compete with the commercial successful Kindle Fire, being officially revealed by Google a few moments ago at the I/O conference, this newly launched Nexus 7 really surprised us with its super configuration. But how does the Nexus 7 tablet compare against what seems to be its direct competitor, the Amazon Kindle Fire. Does the Nexus 7 tablet have what it takes to become the best budget tablet ever created? Ok let’s just get this out of the way right now by comparing these two outstanding tablets!
OS
Google Nexus 7 runs on the newest version of Android 4.1 JellyBean. Jelly Bean's many tweaks are aimed at making the Android experience smoother and sleeker rather than at adding any standout new features .but what you really need to know is that the Nexus tablet is fully optimized for Google play, meaning magazines, movies and sometimes even web content are all perfectly displayed on the tablet. If you’re an Android fan, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on a tablet that brings you the full Android experience, and not the highly forked version of Android offered by Amazon on their Kindle Fire.
Processor
The Google Nexus 7 is packing along one snazzy and wickedly fast 1.3GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. Obviously, it’s far more impressive than the 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP4 processor with 512MB of RAM that’s stuffed inside of the Kindle Fire.
Display
The Google Nexus tablet and the Amazon Kindle Fire both showcase a 7-inch screen, although the differences between them are quite evident, even on paper. While both sport an in-plane switching (IPS) panel but differ when it comes to resolution, the Nexus 7 runs at a 1280×800 resolution while the Kindle Fire runs at 1024 x 600. The Nexus tablet is able to display 66% more pixels than the Kindle Fire.
Camera
The Nexus 7 will also feature a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, which should be useful for video chats, as well as Google's new map feature, "compass mode", which provides 360-degree images of your surroundings using the camera and gyroscope. The Kindle Fire does not have any camera.
Network
Both tablets will connect to 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi networks, but the Nexus 7 has the added benefit of built-in Bluetooth and NFC. That means it'll work with the vast selection of Bluetooth speakers and peripherals, while NFC could be used with Google Wallet or to easily share information between devices.
Multimedia function
Overall, there isn’t much of a difference between the two tablet’s music players – as we’re greeted with the usual set of items. However, we do like the cool 3D carousel that the Nexus 7 has to offer when browsing through its catalog. Paying attention to the output of their speakers, they’re nearly identical to one another, as they pump out similar tones that don’t crackle at the loudest setting. However, the Nexus 7 has access to various equalizer settings to enhance its quality.
In terms of video Playback, both tablets are able to smoothly play video that’s encoded in MPEG4 1920 x 1080 resolutions. Many of people would watch online movies on Kindle Fire directly by connecting network. As a matter of fact, you can download YouTube video to Kindle Fire with accelerated speed. By doing so you are enabled to watch YouTube video without internet connection in spare time. You can do this by taking advantage of a third part-Leawo Kindle Fire YouTube downloader, which will do you a favor to save YouTube video in Kindle Fire. From the looks of it all, Nevertheless, our eyes are particularly glued to the Nexus 7 display thanks mostly to its higher contrast.
Future upgrades
Future upgrades
The Kindle Fire will still probably be easier to use and more intuitive for the average consumer. Keep in mind, the Kindle Fire is unlikely to see any major Android updates or overhauls, while the Nexus 7, being a flagship device, should see more timely updates for future versions of Android.
The Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus are direct competitors. And the Nexus 7 turns out to be significantly better in all departments. From a pure spec standpoint, the Nexus 7 is the superior tablet in nearly every way. Google did a perfect job in delivering a budget tablet. From where I’m standing, this is the first Android tablet that really counts!
